SERVICES

When you are suffering from an unexpected musculoskeletal illness, or when you simply require advice on medication without waiting months for an NHS appointment.  Rapid access provided for both diagnosis and treatment.

You can be assured – I have a commitment to excellence when it comes to the level of care provided

Early Arthritis

Are you concerned that you may be developing rheumatoid arthritis?  You should be referred urgently if you have:

  • new onset of pain in the small joints of the hands or feet

  • more than one joint affected

  • there has been a delay of 3 months or longer between onset of symptoms and seeking medical advice

Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis affects 1in 2 women over 50 and 1 in 5 men.

The first sign may be a wrist fracture in the 50's.  Stop at one fracture.

I will perform a fracture risk assessment and will arrange a DEXA scan if indicated.  Full treatment options are discussed as well as providing a holistic approach to the mangament of osteoporosis.

Unsure if treatment is indicated or concern regarding medication; then book for a full discussion regarding treatment options.

Osteoarthritis

Are you unsure of the cause of joint pains?   Are you unsure how to manage the pain?  Please seek consultation and clarification will be provided.

Joint injections to affected joints can be provided on the day to provide short term relief and manage flares.

Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell arteritis

These are common conditions but can be mimicked by other conditions.  If you are unsure of the diagnosis or have been on steroids for more than 18 months then I would recommend a specialist assessment to ensure the diagnosis is correct and whether steroid sparing treatment is indicated

Other arthritis?
  • Psoriatic arthritis

  • Reactive arthritis

  • Pseudogout

  • Gout - if you are still getting flares; its likely the treatment has not been maximised. Possible that the diagnosis is incorrect.  Correct diagnosis avoids unnecessary medication and correct treatment avoids long term joint damage.

Connective Tissue Diseases

It is important these conditions are recognised early to prevent long term damage.  Early signs such as Raynauds, hair loss, mouth ulcers, photosensitivity may indicate early lupus.  Muscle pain and weakness may cause difficulty climbing stairs and lifting items down from a shelf and suggest myositis.
